Undrdog Pro Plus is the pro-tier single-layer ceramic coating in the Undrdog lineup — a higher-silicon-ratio formulation of Undrdog Pro engineered for detailing shops and experienced installers who want more gloss, more slickness, and more chemical resistance in a single application. With proper maintenance, Pro Plus can last 10 years on paint. It's not the right coating for a first-time DIYer working in a driveway on a hot Saturday. It IS the right coating for a seasoned installer, a shop, or an owner who's done a full ceramic job before and wants the top of the Undrdog line. Here's the full deep dive — chemistry, application, cure, aftercare, and how to know if you should be reaching for Pro Plus or one of the more DIY-friendly options.
What Undrdog Pro Plus Actually Is
Pro Plus is a 30 ml elite ceramic coating built on the same three core ingredients as Undrdog Pro — polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), silicon compounds, and paraffin — but with a shifted ratio that pushes the silicon (the "ceramic") concentration higher. Same chemistry, different balance.
What you get from that ratio shift over standard Pro:
- Double the chemical resistance against acids, alkalis, road salt, and industrial fallout
- Higher hydrophobicity — tighter beading, faster water sheeting, less water spotting
- Elevated slickness — the coating feels almost frictionless to touch
- Deeper gloss and paint saturation — especially visible on dark colors and metallics
- Longer durability — with proper maintenance, Pro Plus can last up to 10 years on paint
Pro Plus is designed as a single-layer application. That's not a marketing choice — it's how the chemistry is formulated. A single properly applied layer delivers the full protection profile without needing to stack coats.
Who Pro Plus Is Actually For
Pro Plus isn't the flagship all-surface Undrdog ceramic — HCC holds that role for owners who want one coating for their car, boat, and bikes with easy DIY application. Pro Plus lives in a different lane.
Pro Plus Is a Fit If
- You're a professional detailer or shop owner delivering premium jobs
- You've applied at least one ceramic coating successfully before (Undrdog Pro or another brand)
- You have a controlled environment — shaded garage, moderate humidity, 50–85°F
- You're willing to work in small sections and time each panel precisely
- You own a black, dark, or metallic paint job where max gloss and saturation actually show
- You want the top of the Undrdog paint-only line
Pro Plus Is NOT the Right Move If
- This is your first ceramic coating job — start with HCC or Pro
- You need one coating for cars AND boats AND bikes — go HCC
- You're working outside in direct sun with no shade — the flash time is too fast
- You want to layer multiple coats — Pro Plus is single-layer by design
- You're coating a rental fleet or high-turnover vehicle where a shorter-life coating fits the economics better
The Pro Plus Application Process
What You Need
- Brand new plush microfiber towels — 3 minimum (three-towel method)
- Fresh applicator pads or suede applicator blocks
- Wax and grease remover OR denatured alcohol (not IPA — Pro Plus prep spec calls for stronger solvent)
- Bright even lighting — LED shop lights work, direct sun does not
- A timer or timer app on your phone
- Nitrile gloves
- A face mask (this is not optional — PTFE-based coatings should not be inhaled)
Prep Every Panel
Assuming paint is already washed, decontaminated, clay-barred, and correction is done, wipe every panel you plan to coat with fresh microfiber and wax-and-grease remover or denatured alcohol. This is more aggressive than the IPA wipe most DIY guides call for — Pro Plus needs a completely oil-free bond surface. Use fresh microfiber for every panel. Don't reuse a towel on a second panel.
Loading the Applicator
Saturate a fresh applicator with approximately 30 drops of Pro Plus in a line along the face. Add more mid-panel as needed. The coating should be visibly wet on the applicator through the whole pass — a dry applicator drags and streaks.
The Cross-Hatch Pass
Work one panel at a time. Apply in a strict cross-hatch pattern (a `#` motion): vertical passes across the whole panel first, then horizontal passes across the whole panel. Overlap each pass by about a third. You should see a light rainbow flash across the wet surface — that's the coating bonding to prepped paint.
The Flash-and-Wipe Timing
Start your timer the moment you finish the cross-hatch on a panel. Wait 1–3 minutes. Longer in cool, humid conditions. Shorter in warm, dry conditions. This is where Pro Plus separates from more forgiving coatings — the window is narrower and the consequence for missing it is high spots or streaks that require re-polishing to remove.
The Three-Towel Method
When the flash window closes, wipe with a fresh plush microfiber to level the coating. Follow with a second fresh plush microfiber to buff away the remaining residue. A third fresh towel does the final inspection wipe. Do not reuse leveling towels on a second panel — coating residue builds up and drags on the next application.

Total Application Time
Average install time on a sedan is 45–90 minutes for an experienced installer. Add another couple hours of dry time before delivery.
Cure Timeline and First-Week Rules
The First 24 Hours
Keep the vehicle dry. No rain, no dew, no hose, no touching. If rain hits within the first 24 hours (about 5% of installs), dry the vehicle with soft microfiber towels the moment the rain stops. In 95% of cases no damage occurs. If damage does occur, another layer can be applied over the existing coating.
Days 2–5
The coating is drying but not fully cured. Do not wash with strong detergents. Do not use aggressive brushes or high-pressure washes. Do not apply any secondary product on top.
Day 5 Onward
Full functional cure. Wash with a pH-neutral soap like Undrdog Soap, dry with soft microfiber, and top up with Undrdog Quick Detail regularly to maintain slickness and hydrophobicity. See our ceramic coating curing timeline guide for the hour-by-hour breakdown of what's safe and what isn't in the first week.
What Pro Plus Bonds To (And What It Doesn't)
Bonds Well
- Painted metal panels — steel, aluminum, and clear coat
- Plastic bumpers and trim
- Chrome and stainless
- Vinyl (it absorbs in and protects against stains and fading)
- Leather (protects against staining and cracking)
- Glass (though durability is significantly shorter on glass than on paint)
- Matte and satin paint (enriches without adding unwanted gloss)
Do Not Use On
- Fabrics — Pro Plus is not formulated for cloth or upholstery
- Rubber floor mats or textured non-slip surfaces
- Battery terminals or electrical contact points

Common Pro Plus Application Mistakes
Applying in Direct Sun
Direct sun on a hot panel flashes the coating before you can level it. Move to shade or apply after the panel has cooled.
Prepping With IPA Instead of Wax and Grease Remover
Standard 70% isopropyl alcohol works for lower-tier coatings but doesn't strip enough oil residue for Pro Plus's bond spec. Use denatured alcohol or a body-shop-grade wax and grease remover.
Reusing Microfiber Towels
Coating residue on a "used" leveling towel drags on the next panel and creates streaks that require re-polishing. Every panel gets fresh towels — this isn't an area to economize.
Skipping the Timer
Wiping too soon smears the coating and reduces gloss. Wiping too late means the coating has cured too hard to level, leaving high spots. A 90-second timer per panel eliminates the guesswork.
Coating Over Existing Wax or Sealant
Wax residue blocks Pro Plus bond. If the paint has been waxed in the last 60 days, do a compound-and-polish pass before coating. Our DIY paint correction guide covers the technique.
Applying to Fresh Paint
Do not coat paint less than 30 days old — factory or repaint clear coat needs to fully outgas before a ceramic can bond properly. Wait the 30 days.
Aftercare Routine for a Pro Plus Coating
- Wash regularly with pH-neutral Undrdog Soap. Skip harsh detergents or degreasers on coated panels.
- Two-bucket method with a plush wash mitt. Grit-trap inserts help keep the mitt clean between passes.
- Undrdog Quick Detail after every wash or every 2–3 washes. Restores slickness and freshens hydrophobicity.
- Dry with a plush microfiber or forced-air blower. No chamois, no squeegees.
- Address bird droppings and sap within 24 hours. Even Pro Plus's high chemical resistance benefits from prompt cleanup.
- Skip automatic car washes. Brush washes drag grit across coated paint.
Storage and Shelf Life
Unopened Pro Plus stays viable up to 2 years stored in a cool, dry location. Once opened, tightly cap it and use within 1 year — air contact starts to slowly cure the coating in the bottle. Store the bottle upright, away from direct sun and heat.
The Top of the Undrdog Paint Coating Line
Pro Plus is built for pros and experienced installers who want the deepest gloss, the tightest beading, the highest chemical resistance, and up to 10 years of protection from a single-layer application.

What is Undrdog Pro Plus?
Undrdog Pro Plus is the elite pro-tier ceramic coating in the Undrdog lineup — a 30 ml single-layer formulation with a higher silicon concentration than standard Undrdog Pro. It delivers double the chemical resistance, higher hydrophobicity, elevated slickness, deeper gloss, and up to 10 years of durability with proper maintenance.
How is Pro Plus different from Undrdog Pro?
Same three core ingredients — PTFE, silicon compounds, and paraffin — but Pro Plus uses a shifted ratio with a higher silicon concentration. That translates to more gloss, more chemical resistance, more slickness, and longer durability. Pro is more forgiving for first-timers. Pro Plus is for experienced installers and shops.
How long does Pro Plus last?
With proper maintenance including regular pH-neutral washes and periodic Quick Detail top-ups, Pro Plus can last up to 10 years on painted surfaces. Real-world durability depends on wash habits, climate, and exposure.
Can Pro Plus be layered?
Pro Plus is designed as a single-layer coating. The chemistry delivers full protection in one properly applied layer. The exception: if damage occurs within 24 hours of application (rain, contact), another layer can be applied on top.
Is Pro Plus for DIY or pros?
Pro Plus is recommended for experienced installers, detail shops, and DIYers who have already successfully applied at least one ceramic coating. First-time DIYers should start with HCC or Undrdog Pro — the flash windows and prep specs are more forgiving.
What do you need to apply Pro Plus?
Fresh plush microfiber towels (three-towel method), fresh applicator pads or suede blocks, wax and grease remover or denatured alcohol, bright even lighting, a timer, nitrile gloves, and a face mask. Prep is more demanding than lower-tier coatings.
How long does Pro Plus take to cure?
The vehicle should stay dry for 24 hours minimum. Do not use strong detergents for 5 days. Full functional cure is 5 days, at which point regular pH-neutral washing and Quick Detail top-ups can begin.
Can I use Pro Plus on matte paint?
Yes. Pro Plus enriches matte and satin paint finishes without adding unwanted gloss — it adds protection and depth without changing the intended finish.
Does Pro Plus work on wheels and interior?
Pro Plus bonds to painted metal wheels, chrome, and stainless. It also absorbs into vinyl and leather to protect against staining and fading. Do not use it on fabrics, rubber floor mats, or textured non-slip surfaces.
What's the shelf life of an opened bottle?
Up to 1 year opened when tightly capped and stored in a cool, dry location. Unopened bottles keep for up to 2 years. Air contact begins the slow cure inside the bottle, so tight sealing matters.
